FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT - FLEETWOOD 2025
Finally l get the chance to go The Festival Of Transport at Fleetwood, sometimes referred to, as Tram Sunday. Normally there would be a large presence of Heritage Trams from Blackpool, but due to operational and safety concerns these were unable to be here. Apparently, Blackpool Transport and Blackpool Council are working on modifications and upgrades to enable the trams to operate safely alongside the modern tram fleet. This means, installing new speed restriction technology, intensive driver and conductor training, and track inspections. I felt the festival really missed them and that resulted with me being a little disappointed. Hopefully some of illuminated Heritage Trams will be in operation later this year. Fingers crossed.
Let’s get back to the photography. The weather at the time was fairly unpredictable and only made my mind up to go very late the night before. I reckoned l would have an about 3 hours before the rain arrived. Get there early was my decision. Probably the correct one. Got there 9am the festival didn’t officially start till 10am and the parade not until 11am. Walking up Lord Street there were a few vehicles dotted about parked up to check out, not as many as expected, time yet l said. Plenty of food and drink stalls, plus the local shops of cause. Got a few images, but when the parade started that’s when my shutter finger got some exercise. Then, unsurprisingly, the rain as predicted started to fall. Must admit, the rain helped with the photography. Getting more interesting images certainly was helped by the rain. My camera is fairly weather resistant, but still concerned about it, drying it off and keeping it relatively dry under my coat. Of cause their is the obligatory dog image, well, more than one actually, they where everywhere. Some dogs just can’t help themselves being the centre of attention as you will see. Bless.
I have to say this. Their are a few images that may offend, nothing too serious. It is the type of document style photography l like to do. Please bear this in mind. It’s probably best to put yourself into humorous mode before scrolling. Thanks for looking.
